Join rangers this weekend for our first ever InstaMeet! What is an InstaMeet? It's a fun event where Instagram users (IGers) meet up, take photos, and get to know each other! However, you do not have to be an Instagram user to join in the fun! Anyone is welcome to participate in these ranger-led hikes. Participants are encouraged to bring a camera or a phone to capture images during the hike.

The first InstaMeet will take place this Saturday, March 19 at 1:00 p.m. Meet the ranger at the school house in the Port Oneida Rural Historic District on Port Oneida Road, across from the Kelderhouse cemetery. Have fun taking pictures in the park, looking for signs of spring, and connecting with your fellow IGers. Participants are encouraged to share their photos on social media using #PortOneidaIM. Plan to be outside for about 1.5-2 hours, dress for the weather, and wear comfortable shoes for hiking. Can't make it this weekend? Head over to Instagram and follow us @SleepingBearNPS. Search for the hashtag #PortOneidaIM to see the photos we take this Saturday! Interested to learn more about the Port Oneida Rural Historic District? You can find out more here: www.nps.gov/slbe/planyourvisit/portoneida.htm.

The second InstaMeet will take place on Saturday, March 26 at 1:00 p.m. Meet the ranger at Esch Road Beach for a hike along Lake Michigan and Otter Creek and an optional, longer hike to the Marl Springs. Participants are encouraged to share their photos on social media using #EschIM. Plan to be outside for about 1.5-2 hours, dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes for hiking. Once again, if you can’t make it for the program, head over to Instagram and follow us at @SleepingBearNPS. Search for the hashtag #EschIM to see the photos we take on our hike!

There is no cost for these programs; however, you must have a park entrance pass or an annual pass displayed in your vehicle. Park passes can be purchased at the Philip A. Hart Visitor Center in Empire, open seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For questions, please call 231-326-4700, extension 5010. We hope to see you there!
