National Park Service Needs Volunteers

(Thousand Oaks, CA) Share your knowledge of the Santa Monica Mountains with visitors from around the world. Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is seeking volunteers to staff the Visitor Center in Thousand Oaks. Visitor center volunteers assist park visitors in a variety of ways including responding to visitor requests for information about trails, park events, and programs, and assisting with bookstore sales.

Both weekday and weekend shifts are available at the Park Headquarters Visitor Center located at 401 West Hillcrest Drive. Knowledge of local trails and park sites in the mountains is helpful. Visitor center volunteer positions require a commitment of four hours per week. Training and uniforms are provided.

Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is the largest urban park in the national park system. The park includes many individual park sites and open space preserves. It also protects one of the best examples of a Mediterranean-climate ecosystem in the world.
