Superintendent Walter J. Chavez invites you to participate in our “9th Annual Artisan Fair at El Morro”.Come and enjoy a weekend with local artisans and celebrate our rich heritage in the arts on July 19 -21, 2013.Over 200 artisans have been invited to this wonderful activity, which promises to be the largest yet from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. We will have educational ranger talks, artisan’s demonstrations, typical food and music for your enjoyment.

 This year’s fair will begin on Friday, July 19 thru Sunday the 21st.

“Come and spend some time with us admiring and acquiring unique puertorrican pieces from all over the island. The Artisan Fair will be held on the grounds of Castillo San Felipe del Morro and is free of charge.The Fair will include educational Ranger talks, crafts for the young and best of all it provides a wonderful opportunity for families to be outdoors and to spend some time together” said Superintendent Chavez.“We are extremely pleased to be partnering with the Municipality of San Juan and Fomento, and our local artisans again this year in presenting this year’s Artisan Fair” added Chavez

 “The artisans are one of the best cultural ambassadors of a country. The quality of our craftsmen has been recognized worldwide. In our project, San Juan City Homeland we are honored to serve as liaison between Puerto Rican artisans and the National Park Service at their 9th Annual Artisan Fair at Castillo San Felipe del Morro”, said the Mayor of San Juan, Carmen Yulín Cruz Soto.

 “I also thank the collaboration of Craftsmen program Industrial Development Company (PRIDCO) and the Development Corporation of Old San Juan (CODEVISA) to accomplish this effort. “I invite everyone to visit from 19 to 21 July this craft fair at the Castillo del Morro in San Juan City our beloved homeland. In this way we support our cultural and historical heritage and remain attached to the roots and traditions that distinguish us as a people”, added the Major.

 San Juan National Historic Site (San Juan NHS) is comprised of Castillo San Felipe del Morro, Castillo San Cristóbal, Fort San Juan de La Cruz (El Cañuelo), La Puerta de San Juan and most of the city wall. The park is open every day from 9:00a.m to 6:00p.m, except on Thanksgiving day, Christmas or New Years. The entrance to San Juan NHS for adults 16 and older is $3 to one fortification and $5 for both; children under 15 years old are free of charge and have to be accompanied by an adult.
