Limited Services Resume at Saguaro National Park

Tucson, AZ - Saguaro National Park is resuming some visitor services, including increased visitor information and limited retail at both park visitor centers. This service increase is in addition to the reopening of restrooms and comfort stations at all picnic areas. Trailheads, trails, and scenic roads also remain open. Following CDC and local public health guidance, visitor centers remain closed, but rangers are available daily from 8am to noon to answer visitor questions. Western National Park Association has also resumed some limited retail opportunities as pop-up shops on the visitor center patios from 8am to noon, daily. Starting Thursday, June 18, Saguaro National Park will resume fee collection at the honor stations, online, and will provide some limited pass sales over the phone. Fees will not be collected in person and we recommend visitors visiting the park’s webpage prior to their visit to pre-pay entrance fees. For more information about how to pre-pay fees and what passes may be available over the phone, please visit: https://www.nps.gov/sagu/planyourvisit/ways-to-pay-fees.htm Wilderness campsite are open and permits can be reserved at https://www.recreation.gov/. As the Sonoran Desert enters into Monsoon season, please remember to recreate responsibly when visiting the park. Let someone know where you are going and when you plan to be back. Please wear a facecovering when physical distancing of 6’ is difficult. Carry more water than you expect you will need, and when the water is half-way down, turn around. Park staff recommend getting an early start to your hike and plan to be back to the trailhead before 10am. Monsoon brings unpredictable weather conditions, especially in the afternoon. Heavy thunderstorms, flash flooding, and lightning are possible. Have a plan to take shelter when storms are expected and do not drive or hike through flooded washes.
