There are four developed campgrounds in the parks :
Jedediah Smith, Mill Creek, Elk Prairie and Gold Bluffs Beach.

Do you need to make a reservation at the campground?

Plan ahead: From mid-May to late-September, most of the campsites in all campgrounds within Redwood National and State Parks will have been reserved months ahead of time. Mill Creek campground in summer may be the only campground that has a few sites left for those arriving without reservations.

Winter dates/times of the year are first-come, first-serve.

Jedediah Smith Campground

Situated in a magnificent old-growth redwood grove on the banks of the wild and scenic Smith River, this campground offers hiking trails, swimming, fishing, and seasonal campfire programs. Cabins available.

  • Location: Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, 10 miles east of Crescent City, Calif. on Hwy 199.
  • Open: All year.
  • Sites: 86 tent or RV (no hook-ups); hiker/biker sites available.
  • Facilities: Hot showers, ADA accessible restrooms, ADA accessible cabins, dump station, picnic tables, fire pits and barbeques, food lockers and trash receptacles, visitor center, campfire center.
  • Vehicle Length Limit: 36-foot RV or 31-foot trailer.

Mill-Creek-Campground
 

Mill Creek Campground
Sleep beneath towering maples, alders, and young coast redwoods, with access to Mill Creek, miles of varied hiking trails, and seasonal ranger-led programs.

  • Location: Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park, 7 miles south of Crescent City, Calif. on Hwy 101.
  • Open: May 15 through September 30.
  • Sites: 145 tent or RV (no hook-ups); hiker/biker sites available.
  • Facilities: Hot showers, ADA accessible restrooms, dump station, picnic tables, firepits and barbeques, food lockers and trash receptacles, campfire center.
  • Vehicle Length Limit: 31-foot RV or 27-foot trailer.
  • Reservations: ReserveAmerica—Mill Creek or call 1-800-444-7275. Note: ReserveAmerica does not recognize "Mill Creek Campground" as an official campground name on their website. Enjoy ancient coast redwoods, grazing Roosevelt elk and black-tailed deer in Elk Prairie, easy access to over 70 miles of hiking and biking trails, and seasonal ranger-led programs. Cabins available.

  • Open: All year.
  • Sites: 75 tent or RV (no hook-ups); hiker/biker sites available.
  • Facilities: Hot showers, ADA accessible restrooms, ADA accessible cabins, picnic tables, firepits and barbeques, food lockers and trash receptacles, visitor center, campfire center.
  • Vehicle Length Limit: 27-foot RV or 24-foot trailer.

Gold Bluffs Beach Campground

Experience the wild Pacific coastline and grazing Roosevelt elk in this campground, with easy access to a secluded stretch of beach, Fern Canyon, and 70 miles of hiking and biking trails.

  • Location: Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, 10 miles north of Orick, Calif. on Davison Road (unpaved, no trailers).
  • Open: Typically open all year, subject to funding—please call 707-465-7335 for latest info.
  • Sites: 26 tent or RV (no hook-ups).
  • Facilities: Solar showers, restrooms, wind shelters, picnic tables, firepits and barbeques, food lockers, and trash receptacles.
  • Vehicle Length Limit: 24-foot RV, no trailers.
