Open Comment Period: LOWER B500 ROAD REMOVAL

CRESCENT CITY, Calif. – The National Park Service (NPS) has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Lower B500 Road Removal Project.

The park proposes to remove 0.8 mile of a former logging haul road in the Larry Damm Creek watershed in Humboldt County. The purpose of this project is to protect park resources, especially threatened salmonids (salmon and trout) and their habitat by removing an unmaintained logging haul road located adjacent to Larry Damm Creek. This road has no park administrative purpose and provides no visitor services that are not already provided by the nearby Lost Man Creek Trail and Picnic Area.
 
The EA developed for this project is being circulated for public review and comment for a period of 30 days, beginning May 20, 2019 and ending June 19, 2019.
