The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazards statement for large northwest swells that will approach the coast on Saturday evening. Swells are expected to build late tonight into Sunday which will translate into larger than normal surf, possible sneaker waves, and rip currents along Point Reyes National Seashore beaches.

People venturing near the ocean for the weekend should be alert for large waves capable of producing sneaker waves or rip currents which can sweep a person out to sea, especially at Point Reyes Beach North and South.
