During the recent January rain and wind storms, many trails at Point Reyes National Seashore were damaged by fallen trees and heavy runoff. Immediately following the series of storms, all trails and campgrounds were closed until the damage could be surveyed and cleared. As of today, we have re-opened many trails and all four backcountry campgrounds. These conditions may change as future storms create more damage to the already saturated ground.

The water at all four backcountry campgrounds is not safe for human consumption, so backpackers must bring their own water in until further notice.

For detailed information, please visit or call the Bear Valley Visitor Center for current trail conditions and other information at 415-663-1092.
