Who Made This Project Happen?

This project could not have happened with out the support of some key agencies, organizations, and individuals.

While Congressional funding was used to help with purchase of the Waldo Giacomini Ranch—most of the monies came from California Department of Transportation—no Congressional funds were used in the actual restoration. Most of the funding support came from private non-profit organizations and governmental grants.

Key funders of restoration planning and Phase I and II restoration were:

California Department of Transportation
California Coastal Conservancy
Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation
Kingfisher Foundation
National Fish and Wildlife Foundation
Natural Resource Damage Assessment/Cape Mohican Oil Spill Mitigation
State Water Board/Proposition 50
US Fish and Wildlife Service/National Coastal Wetland Conservation
US Fish and Wildlife Service/North American Wetlands Conservation Act
Wildlife Conservation Board
