This oasis located just minutes from Bullhead City, Arizona, and Laughlin, Nevada, offers generous sunshine, sparkling blue water and white sandy beaches. Spend the day picnicking, hiking or taking a boat out onto Lake Mohave. Extend your stay a few days by staying at our campground or lodge. Boat and other equipment rentals are available on site.
Boating
The boating opportunities at Lake Mohave are outstanding, and Katherine Landing offers a wide range of boating services; including launch ramps, fuel on land and water, along with a variety of boat and equipment rental options. Boat slip rentals and dry storage are also available.
Where to Stay
Looking to spend the night? The newly remodeled Lake Mohave Lodge is one option. Katherine Landing also has a RV Park with full hook-ups and a 173-site landscaped campground with all the amenities needed for a great family camping experience. The many miles of backcountry roads offer opportunities for primitive camping, as well.
The nearby towns of Laughlin, NV (7.5 mi) and Bullhead City, AZ (10.8 mi) also offer a variety of lodging options.
Resteraunts and Picknicking
You may choose to dine while viewing the water at the Katherine Landing Café, or the on-site store sells a variety of snacks, drinks and charcoal. Picnic tables and grills are available, as well.
Hiking
There some great coves waiting to be discovered on foot. Two established trails begin at Katherine Landing, one heading north and the other south. Both lead to sandy beaches perfect for a picnic or just lounging in the sun and water.
The moderate 4.7-mile roundtrip Lake View Trail begins at the picnic area and the first few hundred yards of trail is lined with rocks. The trail surface is somewhat uneven with some moderate elevation change. There are several coves along the way that might tempt you to stay and enjoy rather than continuing on to where the trail ends at South Arizona Telephone Cove. Shorebirds and ducks are often seen along the trail as well.
Fisherman's Trail, a well-defined trail leading to Turkey Cove, is less than 1 mile in length and has minimal elevation change. The trail climbs and descends several low hills before arriving at a long, sandy cove. The water is protected and shallow and it makes a great destination for swimming and picnicking.
Fishing
Fishing is a year-round activity in Lake Mohave; each season bringing its own exciting opportunities. For those without a boat, there is an accessible fishing pier, and many enjoy fishing right from the shore in nearby coves. Fishing equipment, bait and supplies are available at the marina store. A convenient fish cleaning station is located at the top of the launch ramp.
Beaches and Coves
Lake Mohave is famous for the beauty of its sandy and secluded coves. From Katherine Landing there are 198 coves waiting to be discovered. You can find one to share with family and friends or savor wilderness solitude all on your own. Turkey Cove is an easy hike away on the Fisherman’s Trail, and Lake View Trail offers access to Sand Cove and Arizona Telephone Cove. By car, it is a short drive to Cabinsite and Princess coves along with the two Telephone coves.
