Special Au Sable Light Station Program

Join a park ranger on a 1.5 mile walk out to the Au Sable Lighthouse. Take a few stops to look at shipwrecks, check out the oldest exposed rock in the park, and maybe see some interesting plants along the way. Upon arrival at the Au Sable Lighthouse there is a short overview of the grounds and history, then a tour that involves climbing the tower stairs where visitors will watch for that perfect sunset. On the hike back to the Hurricane River parking lot visitors will carry oil lanterns to light the way, and watch for shooting stars in the night sky.

Due to very limited space, advance reservations are required. There is a $5 per person fee for the tour. Please call the Grand Sable Visitor Center, Wednesday through Saturday 9am - 5pm EST, for further information and to reserve your spot. 906-494-2660
