HONOLULU – Park officials advise everyone planning to visit Pearl Harbor National Memorial and those who are participating in the events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor to stay flexible and plan ahead. Heavy rain, wind and the possibility for thunder and lightning are in the forecast, and a flash flood watch is in effect for all islands now through Tuesday.

•  Plan ahead. Check for alerts, schedule changes, traffic advisories and more at www.nps.gov/pearlharbor.

•  Prepare for rain. Bring a rain jacket or poncho (umbrellas are not permitted on December 7 until after 11 a.m.) Step carefully to avoid slipping on wet surfaces.

•  Wear a mask. Masks are required throughout the Memorial to help reduce the spread of Covid. If you are sick, stay home and visit another time.

•  Bring or buy water. No potable water is currently available on site. Bottled water is available for purchase, or bring your own water in a clear container.

The main ceremony takes place Tuesday, December 7 at 7:45 a.m. on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam’s Kilo Pier. Seating at Kilo Pier is invitation only for the health and safety of attending veterans; however, Pearl Harbor National Memorial will livestream the ceremony from the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center lawn. Livestream event access at the visitor center was determined via a recreation.gov lottery. The visitor center and parking lots will open to those without lottery seats at 11 a.m.

The public can also watch the livestream of the events here:
