Guided Backcountry Hikes with a Ranger A series of off-trail guided hikes will be offered Wednesdays and Sundays in March to celebrate Arizona Archeology and Heritage Awareness Month, and will showcase the park's cultural resources. Each hike is up to three hours and up to 3 mi (4.8 km) round trip. Come ready to learn about past peoples of Petrified Forest National Park in a great outdoor setting! There may be mud, ice, cold weather and sun; wear appropriate clothing and footwear, sun protection, food, and water. There is a park entrance fee. Hike locations are subject to change based on conditions and weather. Hikes are open to the public, but numbers of people is limited because of the sensitivity of the archeological sites.
