Insects, Spiders, Centipedes, Millipedes

Invertebrates are animals that don’t have or develop a vertebral column (commonly known as a backbone or spine). A few examples of invertebrates include insects, lobsters, snails, clams, octopuses, starfish, sea-urchins, jellyfish, and worms. The majority of animal species are invertebrates, up to 97%!

At Petrified Forest National Park, the most obvious invertebrates are arthropods, invertebrate animals that have an exoskeleton, segmented body, and paired jointed appendages. These include insects, spiders, and myriapods.
