I enjoy sculpting and photographing my hand-crafted masks in unique landscapes. As I work the masks begin to take on the personality of the terrain and the animals that inhabit the area. Sometimes my masks are inspired by a fossil or a single artifact. Each mask becomes an expression of the landscape, with characteristics emerging as sharp angles, prickly spikes, gentle curves, or rounded edges. Modeling and documenting the mask in the place that inspired it makes each project feel complete.
