Pecos, NM: Due to several days of higher humidity and rain, Pecos National Historical Park will lift the closure order and stage 2 fire restrictions on Tuesday, July 10th. All publicly-accessible areas of the park will be open including the Civil War Battlefield Trail. Park officials remind everyone that even under optimal conditions wildland fire is always possible and precautions to prevent a forest fire are needed.
The park’s summer fishing season will resume Thursday, July 19th. As a reminder, Pecos National Historical Park has switched to an online reservation system. The system will be accessible as of July 10th. Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance via www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. A $15 per day fee must be paid online during the online reservation process. Please note that anglers are still required to check in and acquire a special use permit at the park visitor center prior to fishing.
