Ocmulgee Indian Celebration is going to be virtual onSeptember 19th and 20th
Macon, GA – Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park is announcing that the annual Ocmulgee Indian Celebration is going to be virtual this year. For the past 28 years the event has been held on park grounds, attracting crowds of 7,000-plus. The National Park Service (NPS) is working service wide with federal, state, and local authorities to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic. We regret to announce we will not be able to safely host the large Ocmulgee Indian Celebration. The health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, and partners is our number one priority.
However, we will continue the tradition of honoring the American Indian people and cultures. The Ocmulgee Indian Celebration will look different this year, but you will still be able to experience each of the important aspects that make the Ocmulgee Indian Celebration such a special event.
Join us September 19th and 20th for videos premiering on our park’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ocmulgeemoundsnps. These videos, generously shared by American Indian artists and community members, will highlight dancing, storytelling, demonstrations, crafting, and cooking.
