Business operators who wishes to conduct commercial activities within Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area and/or Obed Wild & Scenic River is required to obtain a Commercial Use Authorization permit (36 CFR Sec. 5.3). Normally the window in which to apply is January 1 through March 31. However, effectively immediately, late fees associated with submitting an application for a Commercial Use Authorization through 2020 will be waived.
This permitting process helps ensure all commercial activities within the park are operating in a manner that is consistent with the mission of the park and the National Park Service. That is to say, all commercial activities operating within the park should provide high quality visitor experiences while protecting important natural, cultural, and scenic resources.
