Pioneer Fire 2024

The Pioneer Fire is burning in the Lake Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness Area in the Chelan Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest and on private land 31 miles northwest of Chelan.

Pioneer Fire Closures

As of 7.17.24, the following are closed to all access due to fire activity. Exceptions: Any Federal, State, or Local employee in the performance of an official duty.

Pioneer Fire Evacuation Level for Stehekin

  • As of 7.14.24 the Stehekin Valley to High Bridge is in a Level 1 Evacuation level due to the Pioneer Fire. Level 1 is a fire advisory, warning people there is a wildfire in the area and you should monitor fire resources.

Pincer Two Fire 2024

The Pincer Two Fire is burning in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest east of Marblemount.

As of 7.21.24, the following are closed to due to fire activity.

  • Roads
    • Cascade River Road is closed at MP 8 (Marble Creek). There is no access to the park beyond the closure.
  • Trails
    • Cascade Pass Trail from Cascade Pass Trailhead to Cascade Pass
  • Cross-country Zones
    • Johannesburg Cross-country Zone

Easy Fire 2024

The Easy Fire is burning in the Methow Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest west of Mazama.

Easy Fire Closures

Effective 4 m. on Sunday, July 21, State Route 20 is closed in both directions between MP 148 (Granite Creek) and MP 157 due to wildfire activity and fire mitigation on the Easy Fire. Visit the WSDOT real time travel map for more information.

Closures on the Easy Fire affect access to North Cascades National Park Service Complex trails and areas and are listed below. Other closures exist on the Methow Ranger District and information can be found on inciweb or Facebook.

Long-term Closures due to Fire

A burned landscape presents a number of safety hazards that either did not exist prior to the fire or are increased by the effects of the fire. In some cases these hazardous conditions may continue for several years after a fire. Be very aware of your surroundings, follow warning signs, and pay particular attention to potential safety hazards such as unstable terrain, falling or rolling debris, displaced wildlife, burned stump holes and root chambers, hazard trees, and debris flows.

The following closures will remain in effect until further notice due to hazards from falling dead trees and other ground hazards resulting from wildfires.

Area Closures, including Climbing Approaches in the Chilliwack Area (map link):

  • Chilliwack Trail between the Chilliwack River cable car and its northern terminus (the Copper Loop)
  • Copper Ridge Trail between Copper Lake and Indian Creek camps (the Copper Loop)
  • Brush Creek Trail between the junction with the Chilliwack Trail and Whatcom Pass
  • Cross-country Zone access from closed trails

Camp closures in the Chilliwack Area (map link):

  • Indian Creek Camp
  • U.S. Cabin Stock Camp
  • Graybeal and Graybeal Stock camps
  • Whatcom Camp
  • Tapto Lakes and Middle Lakes cross-country zones

Area Closures, including Campgrounds, Boat Launches, and Climbing Approaches in the Sourdough and Stetattle areas:

  • Stetattle Creek Trail (entire trail)
  • the portion of Sourdough Mountain Trail from Sourdough Trailhead to the Sourdough Lookout
  • Cross-country Zone access from closed trails
  • Gorge Lake Campground
  • Gorge Lake boat launch

Camp closures in the Sourdough and Stetattle areas:

  • Sourdough Mountain Camp
