Additional Area, Trail, and Camp Closures

Park officials have closed additional areas, trails, and camps to manage visitor safety, firefighter access, and emergency response in conjunction with firefighting efforts on the Sourdough Fire. The closures listed are not immediately threatened by the fire. 

Diablo Lake is closed to all use beyond the boom north of State Route 20, including all watercraft. Diablo Lake south of the boom to Thunder Arm remains open. Ross Lake is closed to all boating. Trails on the west side of Ross Lake are closed from Ross Dam Trailhead to Silver Creek Boat-in Camp. This closure includes Happy Panther, Big Beaver, and Little Beaver trails. Cross-country Zone access from closed trails is prohibited. The east side of Ross Lake remains open to foot access with entrance from the East Bank Trail.

Colonial Creek North and South campgrounds are closed beginning at noon on Friday, August 4.

Visitors should be aware of fire restrictions in all areas of the park complex. Campfires or the ignition of wood, briquettes, or any fuel in fire pits, fire pans, and barbeque grills, are banned in in all portions of North Cascades National Park Service Complex – North Cascades National Park, Ross Lake National Recreation Area, and Lake Chelan National Recreation Area. This includes all National Park Service lands and campgrounds along State Route 20 as well as Hozomeen and the entire Stehekin Valley. If you see smoke or flames dial 911 or report to a park visitor or information center. Contact the Wilderness Information Center for trail information at noca_wilderness@nps.gov.
