Park Ranger Maggie brings Write Out participants to the Niobrara National Scenic River, challenging us to listen to the world for our first #writeout prompt.
"It was a cool fall evening and the chill of the water could be felt on the river's bank. We curled up beside each other, eyes drinking in the glow of the fire against the last light of the day." - M. Vetch, 2020

We encourage you to spend quiet time along the Niobrara National Scenic River or our own backyard taking in your surroundings, learning from them using your senses to explore, then write about your experience and its importance to you.
You do not need to be a professional writer, but spend some time using your senses to explore the sights, sounds, smells, and touch of the plants around. You just might be treated to some wildlife meandering through. After exploring with your senses, write about it or if you have stories related to the river, please write those too. The river has so much history around it and many stories to tell.
