The Parkway by Vehicle

The Parkway was built for car touring, so much of the experience can be enjoyed from the comfort of your car. Many pull-offs and overlooks are designed so that you can read signs and survey the vistas from your car.

Two extrodinary experiences that provide a front seat view of the Old Trace are at milepost 375.8 and 401.4.

At milepost 375.8, you can drive (no RVs) along the Old Trace on a hilly one-way road for 2.5 miles. You will enjoy the experience of being away from it all.

At milepost 401.4, first you can observe the tradition of hanging tobacco in a barn. Then you can travel on a flat, partially paved two-mile road. It's a backwoods experience.
