TUPELO, Miss. – On March 4, 2025, the National Park Service will begin mill and overlay asphalt repair work on the ramps from Natchez Trace Parkway to Interstate Highway 55 resulting in nightly closures.
Closures will occur from 6:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. as work progresses, starting with the north bound on-ramp the evening of Tuesday, March 4. All work on the highway ramps will be done under nighttime closures throughout the duration of the project. Crews will also begin construction on the Parkway from I-55 interchange to the Parkway’s Ridgeland maintenance yard (milepost 101 to 102.5).
When work begins on the mainline road, it will include milling of the existing asphalt, patching failed areas, and overlay with a new asphalt layer. The work will be done under a single lane closure with flaggers in place to direct traffic. Travelers in this area could experience lengthy delays while the construction is ongoing and should use alternate routes where possible. Keep an eye on message boards on the interstate and parkway for the latest information on closures and work zones.
