CONSERVATOR'S DESCRIPTION Treatment: The surface was dry cleaned using a soft brush and a hand -held vacuum. Flaking and tenting paint
was consolidated using a 7% solution of Rohm and Hass Acryloid B-72
in acetone. Areas of loss and abrasion to the object were isolated with a
3% solution of Acryloid B-72 in acetone, then filled with DAP vinyl
spackling compound and painted with Liquitex acrylic emulsion paint. As
requested, the plaster loss on the rim of the hat was toned but not
filled.
