Conservation treatments make objects easier to use for exhibit or research. This is a picture of fragments of a textile uncovered by archeological excavations at Canyon de Chelly National Monument. They are hard to see and it is difficult to understand how the pieces went together. The textile was treated so that it could be easily examined and analyzed.

Conservator's Description
Condition: Textile fragments are wrinkled, twisted and broken. They are dirty and stiff. Most show desiccation and shedding. The edges are frayed and many have unraveled.
