Post-Hurricane Sandy: What's happening at Morristown National Historical Park

As of November 22, Morristown National Historical Park has completely reopened after the storm. The park has been involved in a multiple agency storm recovery effort and cleanup will continue for some time. The following links and information may be helpful in following the progress.

The Washington's Headquarters area, including the museum and the Ford Mansion, located at 30 Washington Place in Morristown reopened on November 10th, just in time for Veterans Day Weekend. Regular operating hours for the museum and the Ford Mansion are in place. The Museum is open 9am to 5pm daily. Tours of the Ford Mansion are 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm daily. All visitors are asked to check in at the Museum bookstore upon arrival. Tours size is limited and available on a first come first serve basis. Call 973-539-2016 ext. 210 for further details.

Fort Nonsense is also open to the public. The entrance is located off Chestnut Street in Morristown behind the Courthouse area. This area has several parking spots and gives you a good view of the Morristown. There are also some picnic tables that are available if you would like to read a book or have lunch with a view. The grounds are open from 8am to 4:30pm daily during the fall and winter months.

NJ Brigade Area which includes the Corss Estate and formal gardens reopened to the public on November 20. All safety hazards around the grounds and trails have been addressed.

Jockey Hollow Encampment Area, which includes all hiking trails, the Wick House and Garden, Jockey Hollow Visitor Center and the Encampment Tour Road have reopened as of November 22. Clean-up will continue for an extended period.

All scheduled interpretative programs and visitor activities schedule for Jockey Hollow, including the Wick House and various hikes are canceled until further notice.
