This page is dedicated to five park employees who lost their lives while in the line of duty at Mount Rainier National Park. Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Ranger Nick Hall, age 33, fell to his death during the rescue of four injured climbers on the Emmons Glacier on June 21, 2012.
U.S. Park Ranger Margaret Anderson, age 34, was shot and killed during a traffic stop on the road to Paradise on January 1, 2012.
Ranger Phil Otis, age 22, Student Conservation Association volunteer ranger, fell to his death on the Winthrop Glacier while responding to a report of an injured climber on August 12, 1995.
Ranger Sean Ryan, age 23, fell to his death on the Winthrop Glacier while responding to a report of an injured climber on August 12, 1995.
Carpenter Murrell Trosper, age 42, was crushed and killed while deconstructing a building at Longmire on January 21, 1958.
