News Release Date: February 17, 2017 “Last year, over 900 students from the region were able to visit Mesa Verde with bus funding assistance from the National Park Foundation,” according to Jill Blumenthal, Education Coordinator for the park. “Many of these students had never visited Mesa Verde before, and were delighted to see cliff dwellings and other buildings used by Ancestral pueblo people long ago. The students hiked on trails, picnicked, enjoyed seeing wildlife, and participated in winter activities such as snowshoeing.” Some classes may wish to take a ranger-led, Educational Tour of Balcony House during their visit. These tours must be scheduled in advance, and teachers should use the Mesa Verde website page www.nps.gov/meve/learn/education/bh_ed_tours.htm to submit their requests. -NPS-
