The National Park Service invites you to celebrate the holidays at Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site, in Historic Jackson Ward, on Saturday, December 6, 2008 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Begin your visit at the park’s visitor center, located at 600 North 2nd Street. Enjoy holiday selections performed by the First African Baptist Church Orchestra at 3:00 pm. Warm yourself with hot cider in the visitor center. Children will be invited to make an ornament that they can take home. Throughout the day park rangers and volunteers will provide walking tours of Jackson Ward that will include a visit to the Black History Museum and Cultural Center, where they will be greeted by Santa Claus. Guided tours of Maggie L. Walker’s home will also be available; learn about the life and legacy of Mrs. Walker and her work as an entrepreneur and civil rights activist. Activities at Maggie L.
