MANASSAS, VA – On October 7th, 2024, the Manassas National Battlefield Park officially launched a new service for visitors to better access their park with two manually powered all terrain wheelchairs. The chairs use two mountain bike wheels and manual lever propulsion to allow greater access for visitors to experience the battlefield and explore the history.“The all-terrain wheelchairs are the first phase of the park’s increased accessibility strategy,” said Superintendent Kris Butcher. “Providing equitable access for all visitors is an integral part of our mission. I look forward to continuing to provide more opportunities for all visitors to experience Manassas National Battlefield Park.”
The chairs are available for free daily and can be checked out from the Henry Hill Visitor Center to explore the Henry Hill area. The Henry Hill Visitor Center is open daily from 9:00am – 5:00pm starting on October 14th. All terrain wheelchairs are available on a first come first serve basis. More information
about accessibility at the park can be found on the park website.
