Large Group Reservations

Information for Groups
You are requested to contact the park if you are visiting with more than 25 people in your group, whether it be a motorcoach tour or a big family visit. We strive to make your visit the best experience it can be!
 
Group Size:
As a courtesy to know of when you are planning to arrive, Group reservations for the national park can be made for groups having a minimum of 25 persons. There is also the neighboring Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site. If you are planning a visit to the state park, they have their own separate reservation system, and you will need to work directly with them. To make reservations, please email: LYJO_Information@nps.gov with "GROUP RESERVATION" as the subject line.

Availability:
Contact the park at least a month in advance. Dates are available year-round. Currently we are only offering a welcome in or outside the visitor center (weather dependent) and a self-guided tour of the exterior grounds.
Group Admission: There are no fees to visit either Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park or Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site

Accessibility: For groups with mobility issues
  • Bus and accessible parking at the Hangar Visitor Center in the Texas White House Complex is a 30-yard walk to the front doors. It is a level, asphalt surface. The grounds in the Texas White House Complex are pedestrian only; the asphalt surface is relatively level with a slight downward slope to reach the front of the Texas White House.
  • At the National Park Visitor Center in Johnson City: bus parking is a 100-yard walk to the front doors, and accessible parking for cars is a 40-yard walk to the front doors. Pathways to the visitor center and Boyhood Home are relatively level concrete sidewalks.
  • The majority of the facilities in the park are wheelchair accessible. The exception is the Lockheed Jetstar on display at the Texas White House. Access to the interior of the airplane is via staircase. Exhibit signage includes photos for visitors who are unable to climb the stairs.
  • Wheelchairs and walkers are available to borrow free of charge at both the National Park Visitor Center in Johnson City and the Hangar Visitor Center at the Texas White House Complex.
 
Planning Your Group Visit
There are a variety of ways groups can enjoy a visit to the park.

Johnson City District
  • Boyhood Home Tours: Tours available Wednesday through Sunday (no tours Monday or Tuesday). Tours are 30 minutes. As staffing allows, tours begin at 10 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, and 4 pm. Inquire at the visitor center when you arrive. Your group members are also welcome to walk the grounds of the Boyhood Home on their own.
  • Visitor Center Exhibits: Explore exhibits about the lives and legacies of President and Mrs. Johnson.
  • Three Films to choose from: The visitor center theater seats 35.
    • LBJ the President: A 30-minute movie about Lyndon Johnson's presidential years.
    • Lady Bird Johnson: A 30-minute movie about the life and accomplishments of the former first lady.
    • Orientation to Lyndon B. Johnson National and State Parks: A 15-minute film showcasing the parks' highlights.
LBJ Ranch District
  • Self-Guided Ranch Driving Tour: Drive through President Johnson's beloved LBJ Ranch. Take along a virtual ranger! Download the NPS app to learn about sites along the way. If planning to stop at the Texas White House Complex be sure to request a group reservation.
  • Texas White House Complex: If available, park staff will meet the group at the bus parking area in front of the Hangar Visitor Center to welcome you and give an orientation to the complex. Your group members can choose, based on the time you have allowed, to tour the grounds on their own or explore the visitor center. Maps are available for self-guided strolls.
  • Park Store: Western National Parks Association operates a park store in the Hangar Visitor Center with a great variety of items related to the Johnsons.
Boyhood Home Tours are for anyone visiting the park. Your group is welcome to join these public programs, but we do not delay the start of these programs for arriving groups. If planning to join a program, please plan accordingly and arrive a few minutes before the start of the program.
 
Parking at the Johnson City District:
  • Groups arriving by bus: the visitor center has a bus/rv parking lot with 5 spaces
  • Groups arriving in multiple cars: the visitor center has parking for 44 vehicles and an additional 3 accessible spaces.

Parking at the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site:
The state park has a very large parking lot that can accommodate multiple buses and many cars.

Parking at the LBJ Ranch District:
  • Groups arriving by bus: There are 5 bus/RV parking spaces at the Hangar Visitor Center. The Johnson Family Cemetery and Showbarn each have small parking areas, but there are no dedicated parking spaces for oversized vehicle .
  • Groups arriving in multiple cars: The Johnson Family Cemetery has parking for 13 vehicles and an additional 2 accessible spaces. The Showbarn has an unmarked, dirt parking area with space for approximately 8 vehicles. Parking at the Hangar Visitor Center is along the historic taxiway. There is parking for 81 vehicles and additional 4 accessible spaces.
