Temporary Change in Hangar Visitor Center Operations for Labor Day Weekend
In an effort to accommodate the increase in visitation during the Labor Day weekend, the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park Hangar Visitor Center will be open on Monday, September 6, 2021. The Hangar Visitor Center is located at the LBJ Ranch and hours of operation for Labor Day will be 10:00 am – 4:30 pm.
Additionally, the Hangar Visitor Center will be closed on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 to allow for the park’s cooperating association, Western National Park Association, to conduct their yearly inventory. Visitors interested in purchasing items from the gift store can visit their website at https://store.wnpa.gov. The Hangar Visitor Center will reopen Wednesday, September 8th under normal operating hours.
The LBJ Ranch and Johnson City District, including the Johnson City Visitor Center, will remain open for regular business hours 9:00 am – 5:00 pm on Tuesday, September 7th (entry gate at the Ranch closes at 4:30 pm).
As the National Park Service monitors and responds to the COVID-19 pandemic, we work closely with the NPS Office of Public Health to use the latest science to guide our decision making. Access to Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park is as follows:
LBJ Ranch —Inbound gate opens at 9:00 am and closes at 4:30 pm. Exit gate closes at 5:30 pm.
While the listed areas are accessible for visitors to enjoy, services may be limited. The CDC has offered guidance to help people recreating in parks and open spaces prevent the spread of infectious diseases. We will continue to monitor all park functions to ensure that visitors adhere to CDC guidance for mitigating risks associated with the transmission of COVID-19 and take any additional steps necessary to protect public health.
To promote our staff and visitors’ safety, masks are required in all NPS buildings and on all forms of enclosed public transportation, regardless of location or vaccination status. Additionally, masks must be worn in outdoors spaces where physical distancing cannot be maintained, such as narrow or busy trails and overlooks.
