Public is Invited to a Trick-or-Treat Event on October 21 st. at Lincoln Home National Historic Site Springfield, Illinois.  In cooperation with its Springfield partners, the Lincoln Home Employee Association will host a free “Trick-or-Treat” event for children 12 years old and under, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m, on Friday, October 21 st.

The event will begin at the Lincoln Home National Historic Site’s Visitor Center located at 426 South 7th Street in downtown Springfield. Children and parents are welcome to visit the park any time between these hours and view the site in a “different light.” This year’s “Trick or Treat” event will feature a variety of activities including:

  • candy stops at several historic houses throughout the festively decorated Lincoln-era neighborhood (the houses will not be open for tours),
  • volunteers in period clothing,
  • a campfire re-enactment with the 114th Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry of the Civil War,
  • Junior Ranger activity
  • 1860’s era games
  • Several cars from the Cool Cruisers Car Club (weather permitting), and
  • canned food items will be collected to help families in need throughout Springfield
Candy donations and volunteers for the event are still needed. If you would like to contribute or volunteer for the event, please contact Jim Ranslow at 217-391-3237 or by email at James_Ranslow@nps.gov.
