Lincoln Home National Historic Site Hosts Trick-or-Treat Event October 29th
Springfield, Illinois- Lincoln Home National Historic Site, in partnership with the Lincoln Presidential Foundation and with the support of many Springfield area partners, will host a free trick-or-treat event for children 12 years old and under from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29. The event will begin at the site’s Visitor Center located at 426 South 7th Street in downtown Springfield. Children and parents are welcome to visit and trick-or-treat in the festively decorated Lincoln-era neighborhood any time between these hours.
Although the houses will not be open for tours, park rangers and volunteers will host a variety of activities. From 1860s era games to impersonators in period clothing, there’s something fun for everyone. Children can participate in Junior Ranger activities and a costume contest as well. The costume contest starts at 6 p.m. with registration in the Visitor Center. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. Additionally, there will be a food drive for families in need throughout Springfield. Nonperishable food can be dropped off at the Visitor Center.
