Lincoln Home National Historic Site will display exhibit panels during the month of February focusing on local Black history to commemorate Black History Month.
The exhibit will be on display at the Lincoln Home National Historic Site Visitor Center at 426 S. 7th Street Springfield, IL 62701. Hours of the Visitor Center are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM daily.
The exhibit focuses on a variety of topics including: New Philadelphia, the first known town planned and registered by an African American, which was recently established as a National Historic Site; Black historic sites in Springfield, including the Ambidexter Institute, Firehouse No. 5, and the Lincoln Colored Home; and, African American civil rights advocates in Central Illinois including James and Martha Blanks and Eva Carroll Monroe.
