SPRINGFIELD, IL: National Park Ranger Jade Perdue from New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park will be in Springfield for performances and programs on February 17 and February 18, 2023 as part of the Lincoln Home National Historic Site’s Black History Month Guest Ranger Series. To facilitate ranger Jade's programs, Lincoln Home National Historic Site has partnered with Dr. Brian Stark, director of the University of Illinois - Springfield's Jazz Ensemble, and the UIS Music Department.Ranger Jade is a park ranger at New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park, where she shares the history of New Orleans jazz with visitors and performs as part of the Arrowhead Jazz Band. The Arrowhead Jazz Band connects talented National Park Service rangers with jazz musicians to interpret the history of this American art form as they perform a range of traditional New Orleans Jazz and selections from the Great American Songbook.
On Friday, February 17, ranger Jade will be featured at an evening performance in downtown Springfield at the Pharmacy Gallery & Art Space, 623 E. Adams St, Springfield, IL at 7:00 P.M. Ranger Jade will perform with local jazz musicians, including Brian Stark, Jose Gabbo, Kurt Reeder, Max Beckman, and Drew Cox. This performance is free and open to the public.
On Saturday, February 18, ranger Jade will perform at the University of Illinois - Springfield's "Lift Every Voice" Collage Concert with members of the university's Jazz Ensemble. The concert will begin in the Sangamon Auditorium (2200 Ernest Hemingway Drive) at 4:00 P.M. and is also free and open to the public.
