OMAHA, NE. – Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail has released its 2023 Annual Report. The report documents a year of work with partners across the U.S. to commemorate and protect the 4,900-mile-long historic route of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.   

“It was a great year on the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail and a great year at the National Park Service Trail headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska,” said Superintendent Mark Weekley. “We have an outstanding annual report that highlights the projects we have done with our many amazing partners.” In 2023, Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail revitalized our Visual Resources Inventory program and hosted a Midwest National Trails open house.

The Lewis and Clark NHT interpretation team embarked on a five-year, inclusive storytelling project to recenter York as a valued and integral member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. 

The 2023 Annual Report also details a transition in the Geotourism programtribal engagement in Montana, partnerships and other Lewis and Clark Trail updates
