So much goes into making sure that this nation’s national parks are accessible and enjoyable to the public. One person who is integral in this here at the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Headquarters is Miki Keck, the Chief of Business Services. She works closely with the budget, as well as with processing and out processing new hires. She also acts as a principal advisor to the Superintendent and the park management team in business matters. Miki grew up going to national parks, especially the Grand Canyon. She admires how the National Park Service preserves and protects this country’s resources for future generations, rather than to make a profit. Within the office, she loves watching the new generations of park employees develop a passion for the the parks, be them members of the Youth Conservation Corps, part of the Pathways program, or volunteers.
Miki then showed us a bit about her job using an old tool, an abacus!
