Beginning at 12:01 am Friday, May 24, 2019 the boat launch, access road, and associated parking lot at Porcupine Bay will reopen to the public. Only part of the dock at the boat launch will be available for use and no moorage docks will be available. They have been temporarily removed to the overflow parking lot for repairs.
The campground, day-use, swim beach, and fish cleaning station remains closed until further notice under the authority granted by 36 CFR §1.5. This closure includes all vehicle, horse, and foot traffic, as well as all shoreline access encompassing all federal land from the park boundary to the waterline. Park staff is working hard to complete a waterline replacement project and clean up the campground and day-use area to reopen the area as soon as possible.
With the remaining closure of the fish cleaning station we would like to remind everyone that under CFR 2.14(a)(7) federal regulations prohibit disposing of fish remains on land or in waters within 200 feet of boat docks or swimming beaches, or within developed areas. Please take your fish home to clean them.
