Lake Meredith Winter Closure of Fritch Fortress Restrooms

FRITCH, TX – Lake Meredith National Recreation Area (NRA) announces the winter closure of the restroom/shower facility located in the Fritch Fortress Campground. The closure will take place from November 1, 2020 through April 1, 2021.

Restroom facilities are still available on the launch ramp and parking lot of Fritch Fortress for all lake users. Visitation drops off during the winter at Lake Meredith and the demand for facilities with showers can be met at the Sanford Yake Campground. During the winter low visitation period Lake Meredith NRA has experienced extensive vandalism at the Fritch Fortress restrooms. Closing this facility will allow the Sanford Yake facility to be more closely monitored with the park’s reduced winter staffing. Fritch Fortress Campground will remain open for primitive camping.

Sanford Yake Campground and the restroom facilities will remain open throughout the winter season. The facilities available including showers are for the visiting public including campers to use while staying at Lake Meredith. Increased local use has occurred especially after dark creating additional expenses to maintain and operate.
