BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The National Park Service will conduct two prescribed burns near Willow Beach, Arizona, on Monday, November 6. The first burn pile is approximately 1/4-mile northeast of the employee housing, near Willow Beach Fish Hatchery. The second burn pile is 200 yards up the Jumbo Wash access road, south of Willow Beach Ranger Station. The roads adjacent to the piles may experience short-term impacts, but closures are not expected.
This activity aims to eliminate hazardous combustible material generated and piled during the annual cutting and thinning projects conducted in the area. The prescribed burn will protect structures, infrastructure, and natural resources in the surrounding area and ensure the safety of residents and visitors.
The burn piles are comprised of wood and other plant material associated with tree trimming and include a mix of tamarisk, willows, arrow weed, various desert brush, and untreated wood from facility operations and maintenance.
