BOULDER CITY, Nev. – National Park Service officials report that a fire broke out at Las Veas Boat Harbor Marina at approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Interagency personnel responded immediately to extinguish the fire and it was contained within hours. Authorities are currently investigating the cause.
Approximately 15 boats were damaged or destroyed by the fire. Owners of affected boats have been notified of damages by Las Vegas Boat Harbor Marina staff. The marina remains open to the public, but NPS officials issued a partial area closure of the harbor's R and I Docks, as the investigation remains ongoing.
Visitors should exercise caution when accessing Hemenway Harbor and open portions of Las Vegas Boat Harbor due to potential safety concerns.
Lake Mead National Recreation Area staff would like to thank all interagency personnel who came together to extinguish the fire.
