Teacher Resources for "Redoubt: Getting to Know the Volcano in Your Backyard" Lesson

Introduction:

Thank you for signing your class up for the “Redoubt: Getting to Know the Volcano in Your Backyard”. We are looking forward to joining your class!

As a National Natural Landmark located in Lake Clark National Park, Redoubt Volcano is a nationally significant geologic site located in our backyard. In this lesson, students will get introduced to Redoubt, explore the 2009 eruption and discover what scientists learned about volcano behavior by observing the eruption.

Materials and Preparation:

Before we visit your class we'll email you the pre-lesson materials. Please review them. If you have any questions feel free to email us.

This lesson uses the video below as part of the ranger presentation. If you are teaching in-person, please have this video downloaded and cued up before the presentation starts. At the appropriate time, we’ll pause the presentation and have you show it to the class. This provides a better viewing experience for your students, rather than streaming it to you.

For teachers whose students are remote learning, we'll post a link to the video in the chat.

Please feel free to email with questions at any time, LACL_Education_Rangers@nps.gov .
