Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site presents the 30th annual Northern Great Plains Culture Fest Saturday and Sunday, July 30th -31st, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CDT.

Daily demonstrations will cover a variety of topics including: beadwork, quillwork, pottery, atlatl throwing, rope making, Arikara History, flint knapping, fur trade history, and flute music.

Children can participate in activities between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.Each child can make their own beaded corncob keychain.Both children and adults can try their hand at building a half-scale earthlodge at 10:00 a.m. and participate in traditional Mandan-Hidatsa games between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Over the past three decades, the event has gone by many names including Fur Trade Days, Village Indian Trade Days, Northern Plains Indian Culture Fest, and is now called the Northern Great Plains Culture Fest.

Superintendent Wendy Ross says, "Join us as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Northern Great Plains Culture Fest.This fun and educational event gives visitors a glimpse into the many cultures associated with the Knife River Indian Villages."

The Knife River Indian Heritage Foundation will have bison burgers and sandwiches, corn, hot dogs, fry bread, and cold drinks for sale.
