A public information meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 by the National Park Service staff at Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park to provide an update on planning for the Dyea area and to obtain ideas and comments from the public. It will be an open house format from 4-7 pm at the park auditorium in the visitor center at the corner of Broadway and 2nd Avenue. Brief presentations about planning objectives and progress to date will be offered at 5 pm and 6 pm.

"We are very interested in hearing from the public as we begin the final phase of this plan," stated Superintendent Mike Tranel. "We would like to hear from everyone who has ideas for the future management of their National Park Service lands in Dyea, since we'll be refining the list of issues being addressed in the plan. The next step after the public meeting will be to put together the draft plan based on what we hear from the public."
Verbal and written comments are welcome at the meeting, and the National Park Service will provide information on how to receive updates in the future and on how to stay involved in the process. The NPS will complete the updated draft plan and accompanying environmental assessment this winter and make it available for public comment before making a final decision in early 2013.
