Kennesaw Mountain News Release
Release Date: Immediately
Temporary Closure of Mountain Road and Visitor Center Parking Lot within Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park
Kennesaw, GA– The Mountain Road leading from the Visitor Center parking lot will be closed now through Friday, November 16 to allow for completion of its re-paving as part of the park’s pavement restoration project. This closure is a safety mitigation measure, until the road is evenly surfaced with asphalt. The shuttle bus operation will not operate until the road is fully open. Pedestrians, hikers, and joggers are asked to refrain from using the mountain road while the paving project is underway.
The Visitor Center parking lot will be closed to all vehicular traffic (to include bicycles) for paving on Wednesday – Friday, November 14-16. Weather conditions affect the schedule for paving, so these are anticipated closure dates. Visitors may park at the Old Highway 41 Overflow Lot to access the park.
