“John Bell Hood and the Battles for
Atlanta”
On Monday, March 19, 2007, at 7:00 p.m.,KennesawMountainNationalBattlefieldParkis presenting a program entitled,“John Bell Hood and the Battles forAtlanta.” The program is given by Dr. J. D. Fowler. The lecture will be held at the parkVisitorCenterand is free and open to the public.
Dr. Fowler is fromKentuckyand received his B.A. and M.A. in history fromEasterKentuckyUniversity. He holds a Ph.D. in history from theUniversityofTennessee. He is currently an assistant professor of history atKennesawStateUniversitywhere he teaches courses on the Civil War and reconstruction, Southern history, nineteenth centuryU.S.history andU.S.military history. Dr. Fowler is also the author of several books and articles. His lecture will discuss recent scholarship that is more favorable of Hood’s attempts in the Atlanta Campaign. Many argue that later generations view his efforts to holdAtlantaas having been overshadowed by his disastrous Tennessee Campaign.
