Seward, Alaska – Kenai Fjords National Park will host a public meeting on Wednesday, October 3 from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm. This meeting will focus on discussions related to the future Frontcountry Management Plan, which includes the Exit Glacier area of the national park. The meeting will be held at the Kenai Fjords National Park Visitor Center at Seward Harbor located at 1212 4th Avenue in Seward, AK.

The Exit Glacier area of Kenai Fjords National Park is the most frequently visited, having received 167,600 visitors in 2017. This area is also very dynamic in part because of the retreat of Exit Glacier which has receded over 441 meters (1446 feet) since the last Exit Glacier Area Management Plan in 2004. In addition, visitation has steadily increased since the last management plan was completed.

This meeting seeks input from the public regarding options for addressing various scenarios based on possible future conditions and visitation at the Exit Glacier area. Input regarding visitor experiences and expectations, safety, and planning for visitation is highly encouraged. Public input at this meeting will help inform the future Frontcountry Plan and will be designed to address long-term management of the Exit Glacier area.

Please join the park team on Wednesday, October 3, from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm for this opportunity to participate and help inform the upcoming Frontcountry Plan.
