On Sunday, July 25, at approximately 3:30pm, the Alaska State Troopers (AST) received a 9-1-1 call reporting an individual in distress located at mile 3.9 near the emergency shelter on the Harding Icefield Trail. The Alaska State Troopers requested LifeMed Alaska to respond with a helicopter and assist with extracting the dehydrated hiker off the mountain. National Park Service staff were on standby in case assistance was needed.
The hiker was evacuated to Providence Seward Medical Center with non-life-threatening symptoms at 4:00pm.
The National Park Service sincerely appreciates the ongoing partnership with the Alaska State Troopers and their support for critical missions.
