John Squires last seen rafting the American Creek in Katmai National Park on 6/20/2018, when the raft he was in hit a sweeper, throwing him and the other occupants on board in the fast flowing creek. He was last seen swimming down river, attempting to reach the shoreline. He is believed to be wearing a brown down vest, grey "Patagonia" waders, and river sandals. He was not wearing a personal floatation device (PFD) at the time of the incident.
